2-Week Intensive Training Programme

 
Skill development of translators is one of the focus areas of NTM. The Mission offers training to translators in the form of Intensive Programme and Orientation Programme. It also offers academic support to professional translators. Efforts are on to offer Certificate and Diploma courses in Translation.

2-Week Intensive Training Programme

Who should attend? This programme is for those who translate as a hobby or wish to build a career as a translator. It is also for professional translators and Translation Studies students who want to enhance their knowledge and improve their skills. The participants usually include (a) Early career employees and students registered in various universities/institutions, (b) Language officers working in different government and semi-government set-ups, (c) persons involved in CSTT activities, etc.

Where? The training and orientation programmes takes place at the National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore. The programmes also takes place at other locations as and when there is collaboration with host institutions.

 
Fee: There is no course fee as such. However, the participants need to deposit a sum of Rs.500/- at the start of the programme. This money is adjustable with one-year subscription of the Journal, Translation Today.

Who are the trainers? NTM has a pool of trainers who are experts in the field. Some of the trainers work as in-house resource persons at NTM, CIIL while are engaged from different Institutions. Note: Applications are accepted throughout the year. The application cover should be superscribed as 'Application for NTM Translation Training programme' on the left hand top corner. Those who are in service or on any regular assignment need to forward their applications through their employer or head of the Institution. Names of the selected candidates will be posted on the website of the CIIL and NTM.
