The idea of Translation Festival – Goa 2009 was conceived during August 2009. It was planned to translate knowledge texts in four scheduled Indian languages which are Konkani, Gujarati, Marathi and Sindhi. Accordingly, the event was planned and approved by Dr. P P Giridhar, NTM and Prof. Rajesh Sachdeva, Director-in-Charge, CIIL, Mysore. The event was organized in collaboration with Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa and and Fr. Agnel Degree College, Society of Pilar, Goa. Dr. Giridhar was the Co-coordinator of the event. Fr. Fredrick Rodricks was the local Convenor and Dr. Chandralekha D’souza was the local coordinator of the event respectively.
Because of some logistics, it was decided to hold the event only for Konkani and Gujarati languages. Marathi and Sindhi language work would be taken up at a later stage.
The event was conducted from 22nd November, 2009 to 29th November, 2009 at Pilar Seminary Complex, Goa. The event was a combination of a 7-day workshop and a one day Orientation Program.
