Who is involved?

Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL)

NTM involves national organizations such as Sahitya Akademi, National Book Trust (NBT), Center for Scientific and Technical Terminologies (CSTT), C-DAC, etc. Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) is the nodal agency and the chief facilitator for National Translation Mission. NTM is situated in the premises of CIIL. The Mission operates from CIIL.

NTM has a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) as the apex decision making body for NTM and it advises the Government of India in matters pertaining to the translation of languages. They includes 25 experts consisting of; Scholars and experts teaching and practicing translation; Authors; Littérateurs; Presidents of literary academies; Vice-chancellors of universities; Members from booksellers and publishers guild; from industrial houses doing research and development work in the area of translation.

Besides PAC, NTM has constituted four Subcommittees to guide and advise NTM in executing its task. They are:

ii. Sub-committee for Copyright and Legal Matters
iii. Sub-committee for Knowledge Texts
iv. Sub-committee Grant- in- Aid.
